Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the actor and actress biographies come from?
We take the biographies from Wikipedia. However they are often edited and condensed.
Where are the box office score and critics score coming from?
We get these scores from an algorithm that is dependent on various statistics. For example the box office score is largely dependent on how much money their movies make. But we also take into account if an actor stars in the films that do well at the box office. The critical acclaim score is based off of the number of acting awards nominations or wins, as well as how well their movies are received by critics and fans alike.
Why do I have to sign up to vote on my favorite actor or actress?
To make the voting process fair and accurate. If the public could vote without signing up they would be able to vote on a single actor or actress many times, which would skew the X-factor score. You will not get spam e-mails if you sign up.
Why isn’t my favorite actor or actress higher in the rankings?
Our mission is to rank famous actors and actresses objectively. Visitors should keep in mind that our equation incorporates the X-factor score to account for public opinion in a way that data cannot. However the critical acclaim and box office scores are based off of facts, and are as objective as possible. In addition up and coming actors can not shoot to the top of the rankings after one or two successful movies. If you look at the A-Lister's you will find that they are accomplished actors who have had success over many movies.
